Would you like to be at the forefront of shaping the future of Dartmoor? Are you looking for a job that requires you to work in an inspiring natural landscape, rich in history, on a daily basis? Are you a planner looking for a new challenge in an iconic rural environment in the glorious South West? If so, then we might have just the job for you…
We are seeking to appoint a part-time Planning Officer to join our small team charged with providing the Development Management (DM) service for the National Park. Ideally, you will already have experience in DM and be qualified and a corporate member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI).
Not yet RTPI qualified? We are still interested to hear from you if you are working towards becoming a Chartered Planner in the near future. This post could be the ideal stepping stone to a career in Planning.
While we are passionate about our environment, we are also focussed on the people, communities and businesses we serve – delivering sustainable development in a protected landscape is an exciting challenge. The customer is at the heart of what we do so you will need to demonstrate the ability to confidently engage with a wide range of audiences using sensitivity, tact and diplomacy.
A flexible approach is key - expect to be involved in a wide range of applications, committee work, planning appeals and enforcement work. We also have a number of significant projects lined up, delivering on our promises in the Local Plan.
The post is based at our stunning headquarters on the National Trust Parke estate, on the outskirts of Bovey Tracey. Travel around the National Park will be required.
Appointment at Grade 5 will be dependent on RTPI qualification. The Authority operates flexible working hours and is a member of the Local Government Pension Scheme.
