Cathie moved to Devon with her husband in 1971 and has lived and worked in the National Park ever since. After 20 years working for a local Nursery School, she trained as a professional florist and is employed part-time by a local business. She has served on South Brent Parish Council since 1987 and is currently Chairman. Among her many interests are membership of the National Trust, for whom she is a Volunteer Room Guide and the South Devon Railway, where she volunteers as a Station Master at Staverton. Cathie is also a Patron of the Plymouth Gilbert and Sullivan Fellowship and a keen member of South Brent Amateur Dramatic Society, where she helps with costumes and directs plays and pantomimes. She loves the countryside, history, gardens, walking on Dartmoor and sport: especially cricket, rugby, tennis and sailing. She helped establish the Brent Island Trust, which won the Edward Morshead Award and came second in the competition for projects in all National Parks in England and Wales.
