Filming on Dartmoor

Dartmoor National Park contains breathtaking scenery that has attracted countless film and television producers. Most recent productions include Stephen Spielberg’s ‘War Horse', BBC TV’s ‘Sherlock', ITV’s Ray Mears ‘Wild Walks' and Neil Oliver’s epic BBC production ‘A History of Ancient Britain'.

The majority of land in the National Park is in private ownership and film companies will need to obtain permission from individual landowners to film there. We will be pleased to offer advice about locations and access and will help television and film companies to get in touch with the relevant landowners.

If you do film in the National Park, you will be required to supply the National Park with a copy of your risk assessment document for our records.

Please email communications@dartmoor.gov.uk or telephone 01626 832093 to discuss your film requirements.
