Sources of Support and Advice

A number of organisations that have produced useful guidance, toolkits and resources.  Some offer direct support and consultancy services but as with any project, it is always a good idea to produce a project plan and budget before commissioning any works or services.

Department of Housing, Communities and Local Governement

The DHCLG is the government department responsible for helping communities undertake neighbourhood planning.  It has produced guidance and also issues Notes on Neighbourhood Planning

Locality

Locality provides support to neighbourhood planning groups on behalf of the DHCLG.  It offers 2 types of support:

  • Grant (financial support)
  • Technical Support (professional assistance and advice)

It also has produced a wide range of practical advice and toolkits for you to use in preparing your neighbourhood plan including the neighbourhood plan roadmap, the handbook for neighbourhood planning.     

Neighbourhood Planning Forum

The Neighbourhood Planning Forum is run by Planning Aid and provides a platform for discussion, offers resources and regular news updates.
