Character Appraisals

As part of good practice for Conservation Area management Dartmoor National Park Authority have undertaken the production of Character Appraisals in consultation with Town and Parish Councils. The appraisal document aims to identify and define the special interest of a Conservation Area and is based on English Heritage guidance (external website, opens new window) produced for all those with an interest in an area.

We also give specialist advice on enhancement proposals for Conservation Areas based on the Character Appraisal and best practice guidance, and other areas which may be suitable for future designation.
