Getting further advice
At the present time the Authority offers a free pre application advice service. It should however be noted that formal submitted planning and other related applications will always take priority and will be dealt with first. We aim to deal with all pre application enquiries within a period of 28 days.
On larger more major schemes officers may wish to visit the site and will arrange this as part of their normal duties when next in that area of the Park. A specific appointment will not normally be offered. On the majority of schemes sites will not be visited and officers will make their assessment as a desk top exercise. Given current priorities of dealing with submitted planning and related applications officers would ask those using the service to contact the team for a progress report if they have not received a response within 28 days of receipt at this office of your written enquiry. Verbal, telephone or personal enquiries at the Authority’s HQ will not be responded to in writing. Such enquiries will not be referred to a planning officer.
If you would like advice on whether you need planning permission, or would like advice from a planning officer before submitting an application please use the form below. You can download the MS Word version, and complete this electronically, alternatively a PDF version is available which can be completed by hand. Please read the instructions carefully and include as much information as you are able, please include a telephone number and email address if you have one.
You should note that any advice offered either verbally or in writing will be subject to the following general caveat:
The advice set out above is based on the information submitted, without the benefit of a site visit, and is made without prejudice to the consideration of any application. The advice offered will not prejudice the final recommendation of the Director of Planning and Planning Team Managers, nor the final views and determination of Members of the Development Management Committee should the application be referred to them for a decision. Whilst advice offered may suggest a negative recommendation from planning officers this does not prevent you from submitting an application to test this opinion.
