Appropriate Assessment

Appropriate Assessment/Habitat Regulations Assessment (HRA) of land use plans is required under the European Communities (1992) Council Directive 92/43/EEC (the ‘Habitats Directive’).  HRA provides for the protection of ‘European Sites’ (also known as ‘Natura 2000’ or ‘N2K’ sites), these are sites which are of exceptional importance in respect of rare, endangered or vulnerable natural habitats and species within the European Community. Such sites include Special Areas of Conservation (SACs), which comprise 25,452ha (totalling 27%) of the Dartmoor National Park.

This document sets out the HRA screening exercise for spatial (land use) plans produced by Dartmoor National Park Authority.  It is a working document which will be updated to include an assessment of each of the Development Plan Documents of the LDF.  This version includes the assessment of:

• the LDF draft Design Guide SPD
• the adopted Dartmoor National Park Management Plan

This document sets out the detailed Habitat Regulations Assessment (Appropriate Assessment) of the Dartmoor National Park Local Development Framework Development Management and Delivery DPD (The'DMD'.  It is the second stage in the process required by the ‘Habitats Directive’ and should be read in conjunction with the Habitat Regulations Assessment (Appropriate Assessment) Screening Report.

Detailed HRA of the LDF Core Strategy

This document sets out the detailed Habitat Regulations Assessment (Appropriate Assessment) of the Dartmoor National Park Local Development Framework Core Strategy.  It is the second stage in the process required by the ‘Habitats Directive’ and should be read in conjunction with the Habitat Regulations Assessment (Appropriate Assessment) Screening Report.   Due to the size of the document it has been split into 7 parts.
