Core Strategy Development Plan Document

This development plan document sets out the vision, aims and strategic policies for spatial development in the Dartmoor National Park up to 2026.  It provides the framework for the formulation of the more detailed generic development management and site specific policies.

Background information

The Core Strategy was submitted to the Secretary of State in June 2007 and subsequently underwent an independent examination conducted by Mr Alan Foster BTP MRTPI of the Planning Inspectorate. The examination of the Core Strategy found the document to be sound. The Report into the examination contained a number of recommendations designed to improve the coherence, consistency and clarity of the document.

The Dartmoor National Park Authority accepted the Inspector’s Report and adopted the Core Strategy Development Plan Document at its meeting held on 4 April 2008.

The changes to the Core Strategy introduced by the report’s recommendations did not require any further sustainability appraisal. Hence, the final Sustainability Appraisal is the same as that prepared for the submission version.  A detailed Appropriate Assessment of the LDF Core Strategy required under the Habitat Regulations has also been published.
