Development Management and Delivery DPD*
About this document
This development plan document, known as the 'DMD', sets out two main areas of planning policy:
- subject related policies (e.g. housing, employment, tourism) to advise and manage development
- site specific policies to set the planning framework for particular areas and land use
This document is a 'local plan', part of the Local Development Framework (LDF), and sits below the Core Strategy; the policies it contains will replace 'saved' policies in the Local Plan. Together with the Core Strategy its policies will form the basis for decision making for development in the Dartmoor National Park.
Independent examination and additional matters consultation
The DMD was submitted to the Secretary of State on Monday 14th May 2012 and an Inspector has now been appointed to undertake the independent examination of the Plan. There is a page on this web site dedicated to the independent examination.
The Authority is also undertaking consultation on two additional matters (see further information below) - the consideration of two sites at Buckfastleigh (Devonia Products Mill Site) and Yelverton (Gratton Cross); and the consistency of the DMD with the newly published National Planning Policy Framework and Planning Policy for Traveller sites.
Preparation of the DMD
Preparing a development plan document requires a lot of information and input from a wide range of people and organisations. Before preparing the publication version we have been through two periods of public consultation on Issues Papers (March 2009) and the Consultation Draft (July 2011). Before the Plan is adopted, and can be used for decision making, it will have to go through an independent examination. You can find out more information on the Preparing the DMD page and view the Supporting Evidence.
