Volunteering is a great way to meet new people, develop your skills and build your knowledge of Dartmoor.

We are really lucky to have a team of people who work with us to help look after this amazing place and help people enjoy and understand it.

Work placements and internships

We recognise the value of unpaid work placements to help people learn new skills, gain experience and help us achieve our objectives. Unfortunately, we do not have capacity to offer placements for 2022 and 2023.

Work shadowing

A short placement suitable for people under 16 years old, or people who have little or no workplace experience. Shadowing involves observing a Dartmoor officer and getting involved in some work activities, to help you understand more about the role and the Authority. Unfortunately, we do not have capacity to offer work shadowing opportunities for 2022 and 2023.

Work experience

Work experience is for people over the age of 16 which may involve shadowing and getting involved in a wider range of tasks and activities. This could include anything from basic administrative tasks to running a small project.

Placements with Rangers or with other officers working in remote locations or lone working environments are only suitable for people aged 18 and over.

Unfortunately, we do not have capacity to offer work experience for 2022 and 2023.
