Independent Person Mr Nigel Tigwell
Nigel first came to Dartmoor in 1979, married local girl Heather and has lived on a smallholding in the highest hamlet on the moor since 1997 . Nigel brings extensive experience of public sector management and regulatory disciplines to his role, as a former Commander in the Royal Navy Submarine Service and as a Principal in the Civil Service. Beyond this, Nigel has worked for the National Trust, is a Parish Councillor for Dartmoor Forest and is involved in a range of local voluntary organisations including the Rotary Club of Yelverton, Princetown History Club, Libraries Unlimited and various writers’ groups. A keen walker and amateur historian, Nigel cares ardently about the moor, its heritage and conservation, and is delighted to use his skills in support of the Authority.
