Challacombe Farm Open Day

In conjunction with Moor Meadows on Sunday 16th June, Mark and Naomi would like to invite you to see the flower-rich meadows and to meet the animals at Challacombe Farm, Postbridge on Dartmoor.
Challacombe Farm is a wildlife friendly livestock farm, that produces very high welfare ‘Pasture-fed’ beef and lamb, whilst conserving and enhancing the wildlife, landscape and archaeology that makes it such a special place. We’ll have a self-guided trail laid out through our beautiful hay meadows, and beside the wet, rhos pastures which should have Marsh Fritillary butterflies flying if the weather is good and lots of orchids. There will also have a selection of lovely Icelandic and Shetland lambs for people to come and meet and watch playing.
During the day we’ll have some fleeces available for purchase to make beautiful things, and we are hoping some craftspeople will come along with their creations to share the beauty and versatility of wool.
Parking: In signposted flat field with shade. Our grid ref is SX 693 794 and the postcode is PL20 6TD.
Other notes : The event is free and there is a self guided marked walk of about 1 kilometre. Visitors with mobility issues or small children are welcome to park very close to the meadows to reduce the distance. Everyone is very welcome, there is a loo, free tea and coffee, and nice dogs on leads can come too. Bring a picnic and stay longer, perhaps going for a longer walk, bird watching or just enjoying being in nature.
