Higher Uppacott Guided Visits

Higher Uppacott Guided Visits

Due to the renovation works taking place at Higher Uppacott funded by the Moor Than Meets the Eye Heritage lottery project there will not be a formal programme of visits to the house until the Winter 2017/18.

Higher Uppacott, has been undergoing substantial conservation works to improve access, understanding and condition of this grade I listed building and its former historic farmstead site. While this work has been undertaken we have had to temporarily suspend tours of the house to enable the work to be carried out safely.

Group bookings:

Before booking please be aware there are uneven floors, low beams, stairs, no electric lights and limited heating.

Private Group booking

If you have a group of more than 6 who would like to visit Higher Uppacott, then it is possible to arrange a privately booked tour on a date and time of your choice (subject to availability of tour guides). The tour takes approximately 2 hours and can accommodate up to 20 people. Groups of less than 6 may join the public guided visits.

School Groups

Higher Uppacott is a good location to support studies about how people lived in the past - their settlements, history and traditional buildings.

Suitable for Key Stages 2, 3 and 4. Groups of 30 (one class) can be accommodated. However, due to the nature of the building, the class would need to be split. One group would be led on a tour of the house, whilst the other would be involved in education activities based around the outside of the house, or in the shippon. Each group would need supervision by staff from the visiting school.
