Come and enjoy an activity on Dartmoor with the Rangers as part of the Ranger Ralph Club!
The Ranger Ralph Club is open to all children between the ages of 5-12 years and is ideal for the young nature enthusiast in your family.
Ranger Ralph meets on a regular basis and each activity is safely led by a Dartmoor National Park Ranger. The club runs up to twelve outdoor events per year. These are all free to attend once you are a member.
The events in July and August are not exclusive to the Ranger Ralph Club but do form part of our programme for the summer. Although booking is usually required it is not for the following two events.
Dartmoor History Hunters Family Fun Day
Friday, 24 July 2026 - 10:30 - 15:30
Join us at The Box, Plymouth for a free family fun day with our Dartmoor History Hunters travelling through time to uncover the secrets of Dartmoor. There will crafts, activities and things to make and take home bringing to life the Brilliant Bronze Age, the Magnificent Middle Ages and Vibrant Victorians. Have a go at being an archaeologist uncovering treasures in our excavation trays, shape a clay pot, spin some wool and much more
*Make a mini clay Beaker to take home (like the Bronze Age Beaker people)
*Be a Master Builder and help make a miniature Bronze Age round house
*Be a History Hunter and sift through the sands of time to uncover ancient artefacts with a Dartmoor Archaeologist
*Play some familiar and not so familiar Medieval Games
*Have a go at wool spinning
All these activities will suit children 5-11 years old and will help them discover Dartmoor's amazing heritage in a fun way

Meldon Wildlife Festival

A fun-filled, wild day out for all the family! Meet local experts, explore Dartmoor's wildlife and make fantastic nature crafts. We'll be supported by a range of partners who will be sharing their passion for wildlife. Ice cream and refreshments available

If you live locally, or are coming to Dartmoor when an event is on, why not book and join in. Remember to bring your membership card!
Booking is essential for these activities as numbers are limited. These events are for Ranger Ralph Club members only.

Bookings are only taken from three weeks before each event. If, for any reason ,you find you cannot make the event, please call and cancel. This will give other people the opportunity to book.
