Come and enjoy an activity on Dartmoor with the Rangers as part of the Ranger Ralph Club!

The Ranger Ralph Club is open to all children between the ages of 5-12 years and is ideal for the young nature enthusiast in your family.

Ranger Ralph meets on a regular basis and each activity is safely led by a Dartmoor National Park Ranger. The club runs up to twelve outdoor events per year. These are all free to attend once you are a member.

Pine Marten (and Teddy bears) Picnic in the Bovey Valley

Join Andy and Kats for a morning of fun activities exploring the woodlands of the Bovey Valley and discovering more about Dartmoor’s newest animals- the pine marten! Bring along a picnic, and your teddy bear!

This activity will all be outdoors. There are no toilets on site- the nearest toilet is at Yarner Wood Reserve office car park. Please come dressed for all weathers. The paths are crushed stone, but muddy in places.
Additional parking is at Lower Trendlebere car park at the other end of Pullabrook Woods.
Pullabrook Woods is open to the public so there will potentially be walkers and dog walkers passing through.

Fossil Hunters
In a now-disused quarry, are caves in coral limestones that were formed more than 300 million years ago. Discover how the caves developed and visit one of them where you can see the fossilised bones of elephant, hippo, bison, lion, hyena and other animals that lived in the Dart Valley 100,000 years ago.

Visit the small museum where you can handle some of the bones. Find out about the bats that live in the caves and make a plaster cast fossil to take home.
Meet at Pengelly Centre, Russets Lane, Buckfastleigh, TQ11 0DY.

Booking is essential for these activities as numbers are limited. These events are for Ranger Ralph Club members only.

Bookings are only taken from three weeks before each event. If, for any reason ,you find you cannot make the event, please call and cancel. This will give other people the opportunity to book.

Sorry, but we do not allow dogs on our events.
