Dartmoor local access forum

Dartmoor Local Access Forum is an independent advisory body established in 2002.

The Forum advises the Authority, and other organisations, on how to make Dartmoor more accessible and enjoyable in ways which address environmental, social and economic interests.

Forum meetings are open to the public and the agenda for each meeting is available here one week before the meeting. A printed copy can be viewed at the National Park Headquarters at Parke, Bovey Tracey.

Meetings are normally held at Parke. The Forum meets formally twice a year (additional meetings and training days are arranged as required).

Become a Forum member

We are looking for volunteers who have the passion, skills, knowledge and enthusiasm to help people make the most of enjoying Dartmoor.

We welcome applications from people of all ages and backgrounds with experience in a range of areas, including:

  • leisure and recreational activities
  • farming and land management
  • nature conservation
  • history and archaeology
  • education
  • tourism.

Members are appointed for three years, and one third of the places on the Forum come up for renewal each year. Forum members are volunteers, but can be paid reasonable travel expenses.
