Dartmoor Talks: Moor Invertebrates

Dartmoor Talks: Moor Invertebrates

Thursday, 6 August 2026 at 19:00 - 20:00

Dartmoor National Park is home to some of the UK's most charismatic and interesting invertebrate species. However, many of these species are incredibly rare and are at risk of extinction, with some species only found within Dartmoor National Park and the Dartmoor Important Invertebrate Area, and nowhere else in the UK. Buglife's new project Moor Invertebrates, aims to secure a future for eight of these incredibly rare invertebrates, including the Critically Rare Bog Hoverfly and the Endangered High Brown Fritillary. Join Buglife's Conservation Officer Laura, to learn more about the incredible species found on Dartmoor, how Buglife's new project will work to conserve these species, and how you can get involved.

Moor Invertebrates is made possible with The National Lottery Heritage Fund. Thanks to National Lottery players, this project aims to engage with landowners to restore habitat across Dartmoor, monitor threatened species of invertebrate across the national park to better inform their conservation, and engage with local communities about the wonderful world of invertebrates on our doorstep

The talk will be approximately 40 minutes long with an opportunity to ask questions at the end.

This talk is part of a series of online talks being held to mark the 75th anniversary of Dartmoor National Park.
