Start point: Norsworthy Bridge car park (northeast corner of Burrator Reservoir). SX 569 693. What3Words: suppers.starts.buzzards

Getting there: On reaching Burrator Dam (from the south) follow the road to your left keeping the reservoir on your right. Drive past the Burrator Discovery Centre, follow road around the lake (clockwise) and over Norsworthy Bridge, Norsworthy Bridge car park is then found immediately on the left.

Directions

  1. From SE corner of car park take (initially) steep path, keeping to lhs of path, then gently uphill.
  2. Follow path as it levels out to grassy farm ruins on rhs (with accessible picnic table, 300m).
  3. For longer route carry on to Deasncombe ruins another 1 km along the path.
  4. Return to car park via same route.

  • This route offers a great opportunity for bird watching with a chance to hear cuckoos and woodpeckers in the spring time.
  • This route follows and old farm track that was once used to access the now derelict farmstead of Deanscombe.
  • Amazing views of Narrate Brook Valley can be seen along the way.

  • Public toilets just south of the dam are open seven days a week.
  • There is no mobile phone reception around the reservoir.
  • An ice cream van is regularly based on busy days near the dam and in the car park at Norsworthy Bridge.
