Connecting Dartmoor & Exmoor

Connecting Dartmoor & Exmoor

Our superfast broadband project

You can check to see if you can get a high speed broadband service by using your postcode on the Connecting Devon and Somerset website.

The ‘Connecting Dartmoor and Exmoor’ programme has delivered superfast and improved broadband coverage across Dartmoor and Exmoor National Parks, enabling some of our remotest homes and businesses to get better connected and significantly boosting access to superfast broadband.

Our delivery partner is Airband Community Internet  a specialist in delivery of high speed wireless broadband solutions for remote rural areas. It does not need a telephone line or cable but uses wireless technologies to pass a   radio signal to your premises and a cable then takes the high speed connection into the building.

Our Questions and Answers (PDF) fact sheet gives more detail on the programme and explains the technology being used.

The Authority has worked closely with Airband to find the best locations for the transmitters to provide good coverage with minimal impact to the special qualities of the National Park.  We agreed a Planning Protocol (PDF) and developed installation guidance (PDF) which shows how an Airband antenna can be installed on your premises while respecting the special qualities of the National Park.

More information on how the Airband wireless technology works can be found on the Connecting Devon and Somerset National Parks web pages.
