Kelly is a unique example of an early 20th century mine with many original features and machinery, including Californian Stamps, water turbine, winching system, waterwheels and ore drying furnace. Reconstructed items include ore washing strips, a Blackstone stationary engine, wagons, tramway system, hand jigger, and mine headgear.
The mine is situated on the side of the A382, 2.5 miles north of Bovey Tracey. Numbers limited to 6 vehicles due to parking spaces available. No vehicle access possible onto the mine site itself, parking on rough roadside verge.
Notes:
1. Limited parking on roadside verge at the mine.
2. No toilets at the mine, rough ground, wear good footwear.
3.Children and dogs must be closely supervised in the interest of safety.
4. For safety reasons, underground access is not permitted.
