An aspect of Dartmoor’s unique cultural heritage is being opened up to the general public for the first time as part of the annual gathering of sheep off the moor.

This unique event will allow the public to watch the sheepdogs gather the flock from key vantage points in the company of an experienced commoner who will act as their guide for the day. Sheep will then be taken back to the farm where the ewes and lambs will be sorted and further opportunities shared to discover more about sheep farming and the commons.  Amongst exhibitors will be local breeds including the White and Grey Faced Dartmoor sheep and of course the Dartmoor pony. Amongst other contributors on the day will be the Dartmoor Commons Association, The British Wool Marketing Board and Butterfly Conservation.

The event will last from 10AM – 3PM and catering facilities will be available on the day.
