Join us for a day of wildlife discoveries in Yarner Wood to find out more about all the awesome wildlife that lives in our very own Rainforest!
Free Hands-on activities for children and wildlife walks in the woods to find out what makes Dartmoor’s woodlands so special. Walks bookable in advance- follow the links
- Opening the moth trap. (8:00am)
- Morning Bird walk (9:00am)
- Reptile Explorer walk (3 sessions 9:00am, 10:00am, 11:00am)
- River dipping (3 sessions 10:00am, 12 noon, 2:00pm)
- Fantastic ants activity (3 sessions10:00am, 1:00pm, 2:00pm)
- Rainforest and rivers walk (2 sessions 10:00am, 12 noon)
- Marvellous minibeasts (3 sessions 11:00am, 1:00pm, 3:00pm)
- Storytelling (3 sessions11:00am, 1:00pm, 3:00pm)
- Beautiful Butterflies (2 sessions 12 noon and 2:00pm)
- Artists from Granite Elements will be on hand through the day to show you the beauty of moss and lichens which thrive in our rainforest- no need to book.
- Find out more about small mammals, otters and pine martens
- Explore the nature table or bring things to identify
- Have a go at drawing with woodland charcoal
In our Basecamp Zone we'll have nets and insect trays, microscopes, and field guides which you can borrow to help you discover what is around.
