Biographical Details

John moved to Devon over 32 years ago and is a retired Company Director of a joinery firm in Newton Abbot.  He was a joiner and carpenter by trade and worked for a London building company as a Contracts Manager carrying out work for the Crowned Prince and government of Kuwaiti.  He was previously on the DNPA as a Secretary of State Member for six years and served on a number of committees.  John is an Ashburton Town Councillor having been twice Chairman and Mayor of Ashburton, a volunteer for the Ashburton food bank, a member of the Ashburton Courts Leet and Baron Jury, a committee member on the Ashburton and Buckfastleigh Hospital League of Friends, a member of the Royal British Legion and a member of the RSPB.  John enjoys gardening, bird watching and walking his dogs across Dartmoor.  He is a keen supporter with regards to the environment and climate change and Ashburton becoming plastic free.
