Biographical Details
Mark was born in Cornwall. He spent his childhood living and working, from a very early age, on a hill farm on Dartmoor. He grew a deep love of the moors and its wildlife, tempered with a large dose of practicality learnt through rearing livestock.
As an adult, his roles have included working as a Publican and as a Food Production Manager. For nearly 25 years he served his community in Princetown as a retained Firefighter and Co-Responder.
Mark re-married in 2014 and his now extended family numbers three children and four grandchildren.
He is retired, so to keep himself fit and busy Mark runs his own gardening business.
In his spare time Mark still loves walking on the moors. He continues to be deeply involved in community activities, serving as Chair of Dartmoor Forest Parish Council. These include being Chairman of PCMF, a charitable and volunteer group that cares for the grounds of Princetown Churchyard, carefully balancing the encouragement of abundant wildflower habitats with maintaining respect for the souls that rest there.
