Challenge 3: Take a close-up photo of something wild

Points available: 1
About the challenge
How often do you get down on your hands and knees and look at the really small stuff? There’s a whole micro-world of wildlife to explore! Have a go at close up photography. You can get really close with most phone and digital cameras and create amazing images. Some cameras even have a macro function to allow you to get closer still or you can get a cheap macro lens to clip on your phone.
Take a look inside a flower, the detail of a leaf or even a ladybird. The more you look the more you’ll find so get down and explore.
Helpful tips
If you don’t have a camera, no problem. Take a cardboard tube from your recycling and use it as a telescope. This is a great way to focus your attention on one small patch at a time and see things you might not normally spot. Get right down onto the ground and get looking. Watch an ant searching for food and follow it with your cardboard telescope to see where it goes

Did you know that there are tiny pseudo scorpions that live in the decaying leaf litter in our soil. They are only a few millimetres long so you would have to look very carefully to see them.
