About the challenge

Water is everywhere on Dartmoor. The peat covered uplands of Dartmoor act like a giant sponge with its bogs and mires eventually feeding into the majestic rivers of Dartmoor.

Take action to reduce how much water you use to protect this watery world.

As a nation we use most water in the garden with hose pipes, sprinklers and jet washers. Get the water where it's most needed by using a watering can and use a water butt to collect rainwater to water the plants in your garden, saving money and water.

Helpful tips

Reduce the amount of water you use around the house.  Use a timer on your shower and aim for four minutes. It is estimated that Britain ‘showers away’ more than 2,000,000,000 litres of water each day.
