Conservation Technician (Property & Maintenance)
Grade: 3
Salary: £13.69 per hour
Hours: Up to 37 hours per week
Contract length: Fixed term 31 March 2026
We are seeking to fill a temporary position within our Conservation Works Team, until 31 March 2026. We require someone to undertake general caretaking tasks and minor property maintenance and repairs at various sites across the National Park. This will include some grounds maintenance work and gardening.
Main duties and responsibilities
These include but not limited to:
*Carry out inspections, and minor repairs or improvements to Authority properties (Parke, Haytor, Postbridge, Princetown)
*Painting and decorating
*Maintaining fixtures and fittings
*Repair and maintenance of information boards, boundary signs and displays
*Assisting with monitoring work of external contractors and reporting back if necessary
*Caretaking duties including setting up rooms for meetings ,waste management, opening up for external contractors etc
*Delivering stock to visitor centres
*Cleaning pool cars
*Maintaining car park machines (replacing ticket roll, reporting faults)
Hours of Work - Standard hours for this role are full time 8:00am – 4:00pm, Monday to Friday, however, we offer flexibility and are happy to discuss alternative or reduced hours to suit the right candidate. (There may be occasions where an earlier start time is required).
Work Base - Station Yard Depot, St John's Lane, Bovey Tracey
Experience of property maintenance and practical use of hand and power tools is desirable.
A full, clean driving licence is essential (Authority vehicles are provided for work).
No opportunity for hybrid or remote working. This role is fully site based so you will need to travel to Bovey Tracey.
Full time salary equates to £26,403 per annum
