How to apply
We anticipate our 5th year to be our most heavily subscribed and competitive yet, meaning we must ensure maximum impact and benefit from the available funding. This means that we will be looking to prioritise first time applicants to the FIPL programme, especially those who are not currently receiving any other DEFRA funding. We will also be assessing future applications on the extent to which the project demonstrates a strong contribution towards the aims of the Dartmoor National Park Partnership Plan and that go ‘above and beyond’ in terms of value for money and legacy. It is also worth noting that at present we are working at a reduced capacity, and we are therefore not currently open to new enquires to the programme. However, you are welcome to start the bid development process by completing all of the sections in our Expression of Interest Form below. |

- Be within the Dartmoor National Park boundary

The FiPL Programme can provide funding for activities that are not covered by other DEFRA grant schemes. This provides an opportunity for us to support bespoke and creative projects.
The programme offers small grants of between £2,000 - £10,000, and then larger grants from £10,000 to £250,000.
Applications for less than £10,000 will be decided upon internally by the FiPL project officers, with a minimum grant award of £2,000.
Applications for over £10,000 (to a maximum of £250,000 in exceptional circumstances) will be considered by a Local Assessment Panel (LAP).
The panel is made up of 8 to 12 members, including several representatives from the farming and land-owning community. Defra requested representatives from Dartmoor National Park Authority, Natural England, the Rural Payments Agency, and other local specialists.

Decisions are made in the context of wider programme management, including reference to the Farming in Protected Landscapes National Framework, in addition to the Dartmoor National Park and Defra policy that may not be specifically recorded in the meeting notes or project descriptions, but provide important background to decision making and management of grant awards. If in doubt, please contact the Dartmoor FiPL Team for an explanation.
